Your First Visit Starts with Listening, Not the Scissors

You don’t have to arrive with the haircut already decided. You should feel free to tell us what you are looking for.

Walking into a barber shop for the first time can raise a very simple question: “Will they really understand how I want to look?”. Entrusting your image to someone you don’t know yet is a small act of Trust. That is why the first visit deserves special attention. It is not about asking questions as a formality, but about creating the conditions for a shared choice.

At Maurizio Barber Shop we want the Experience to begin before the scissors. It starts with the booking, continues with the welcome and takes shape through the Consultation. A professional environment is also a place where you can talk without having to know technical words, state your doubts and explain what you don’t want.

Before the visit: choose the service calmly

Booking through Treatwell lets you look at the available services and choose a time slot. Before confirming, read the name, description and approximate duration carefully. A service dedicated to hair does not necessarily coincide with one that also includes the beard or extra treatments. Checking in advance helps you reserve the right amount of time for your needs.

If you are not sure which item to choose, contact the barber shop before booking. Don’t count on any change always being possible during the appointment: availability and the planned time can vary. Explaining in advance what you want is a simple gesture that improves the organisation for everyone.

Do you need to bring a photo?

It isn’t compulsory, but it can be useful. A photo can clarify what you mean by “short on the sides”, “soft fringe” or “natural beard”. Even better if you can say which detail you really like. You don’t need to find the perfect image: even a partial reference is enough to start talking about it.

If you like, you can bring two indications: what you like and what you want to avoid. “I like the movement of this cut, but I don’t want it too short at the nape” is already a very clear request. You don’t have to show technical expertise: our job is to help you turn the idea into a feasible proposal.

On arrival: take your time to settle in

You will find us at Via Benedetto Croce 8, in Foggia. Arriving a few minutes before the chosen time can help you get settled without rushing. If it is your first visit, you can say so and mention straight away any preferences or organisational needs. If you booked with a specific professional, check the name given in the confirmation.

The welcome should not force you to play a part. You can be a person who loves to chat or prefer a quiet moment. You can ask questions or listen. The point is that the service respects not only your look, but also the way you want to live that hour.

The heart of the Experience: the Consultation

Before the cut it can be useful to start from three questions: “What do you like about your current look?”, “What would you like to change?”, “How much time do you spend on your hair every morning?”. The first brings out what you want to keep. The second helps identify the concrete problem. The third links the result to your daily life.

To these we add observation of the head shape, growth directions, movement and density of the hair. It isn’t about judging the face or looking for a flaw: it serves to understand which proportions and techniques can best meet your goal. If a photo needs adapting, it is right to explain it to you beforehand.

What you can ask without feeling uneasy

You can ask how much the sides will be shortened, how the nape will be finished, whether the length on top will be kept or what shape the beard will have. You can also say “I’m not convinced yet” and ask for clarification. Clarity at the start helps reduce wrong expectations.

A useful example is: “I’d like a tidy cut for work, but one that doesn’t need much styling.” Or: “I like a defined beard, but I don’t want lines that are too geometric.” They are concrete sentences, easy to understand and far more effective than a description full of terms that don’t feel like yours.

During the service: precision and dialogue

Once the direction is agreed, we move on to the technical work. If you want to understand a step, you can ask for explanations. If you prefer to relax in silence, you can say so naturally. And if you feel a detail doesn’t match what was agreed, pointing it out promptly is helpful: it isn’t criticism, but a way to keep the dialogue going.

The duration varies with the chosen service. Some services may include a shampoo or moments dedicated to the beard; to know exactly what is included, refer to the updated description at booking. It would not be right to promise everyone the same sequence, because every service can have different characteristics.

If you also want the beard

Hair and beard can be designed as a whole. A very defined beard changes the impression of the face; a fade on the sides may call for a carefully made transition with the sideburns. It is worth explaining whether you prefer a sharp or a natural shape and how much time you want to give to maintenance at home.

If you have to choose between different services, check availability and inclusions first. The fact that a treatment is in the catalogue doesn’t mean it can automatically be added to any appointment. Organising the booking well is part of the quality of the Experience.

At the end: you don’t take home just a result

When the cut is finished, look at the shape from several angles and ask how to manage it in the following days. You can ask which direction to give the hairdryer, how to spread a styling product or when it might be useful to redo the outlines. The aim is to help you feel independent, not dependent on a complicated procedure.

If a product is recommended, it should have an understandable function. You can always ask: “What is it for, for my hair?”, “How much should I use?”, “Is there a simpler way?”. Personalised advice is worth more than a generic recommendation.

Trust is built in small things

A good first meeting doesn’t necessarily have to end with a radical change. Sometimes the best result is realising you prefer to keep one part of your look and change another. Sometimes it is discovering a simpler Routine. In any case the professional relationship is born when listening, proposal and expectations meet.
